Although freezing levels are expected to rise over the next two days, the Environment Canada Alpine Forecast is calling for cooler temperatures and lower freezing levels by Sunday. The long range forecast shows a possibility up to 90 centimetres of snowfall throughout next week. Whistler Blackcomb's official opening day is November 27 and operations crews are keeping a close eye on conditions to maximize snowmaking and ensure that everything is shaping up to provide great early season skiing and riding conditions. The countdown is also on for the grand opening of the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola on December 12. Construction is now complete and the Sky Cabins are going through extensive testing as they travel back and forth across the line.
