Mervin Announces The GNU Park Pickle

Newport Beach, CA - At the North American sales meeting for Gnu Snowboards, plans for the GNU Park Pickle were unveiled. The Patent Pending Proprietary Park Pickle Product will be included in the 09/10 Gnu Snowboard line. Based on the idea that heelside turns require more leverage than toeside turns, the Park Pick will have a deeper sidecut on the heelside. The board is a true twin shape with a centered stance so it can be ridden with either goofy or regular and includes Mervin Mfg’s exclusive use of Banana Technology.

Pete Saari, VP of Marketing at Mervin had this to say. “The Park Pickle achieves perfect balance through asymmetry, a deeper sidecut and asymmetric core on the heel edge balances your foots asymmetry and the different turn mechanics between heel and toe turns. Twin Asymmetric Banana Magnetraction design is the future of all terrain freestyle performance snowboards. Pickle Power!”

A limited run of 300 Park Pickles for North America will be built and released for sale to select Authorized Gnu Dealers in mid December.

Winners of the Three-Stop Rail Jam Contests Will Qualify for the 2009 Vans Cup at Mammoth

Cypress, CA (December 3, 2008) – Vans is proud to introduce The Vans Mini Cup, a new series of three rail jams going down this winter. The top rider from each Mini Cup stop will qualify for the rail jam at the 2009 Vans Cup at Mammoth, widely regarded as the West Coast’s most important professional snowboarding competition.

The first Mini Cup stop, presented by Satellite Boardshop, will take place at Winter Park Resort in Colorado on December 14, 2008, followed by jams at New Hampshire’s Loon Mountain presented by Eastern Boarder on January 10 and California's Bear Mountain presented by Leroys Boardshop and One Way Boardshop on February 14. The format features an open jam session, narrowing down to a 10-man final judged by the Vans Snow team. The winner from each stop will score an all-expense-paid trip to the Vans Cup at Mammoth and slot in the event’s invite-only Friday night rail jam.

The 5th Annual Vans Cup will be held at Mammoth Mountain February 27 through March 1, with nearly $200,000 up for grabs. The weekend kicks off with an invitational rail jam Friday night, where top riders throw down their best tricks for a chance at the coveted Vans Cup and a huge cash prize. The action continues Saturday with a Slopestyle comp and the Vans Cup caps off Sunday with the Superpipe finals.

A special thanks to Satellite Boardshop, Eastern Boarder, Leroys Boardshop and One Way Boardshop for their support!

Upcoming TTR 6 Star Events Set To Be Most Spectacular Yet
Written by Chloe

Innsbruck/Austria – December 1st, 2008: The Swatch TTR World Tour is set to
detonate over the coming weeks with both the 6Star Nissan X-Trail Jam and 6Star Roxy Chicken Jam firing up and getting the season underway in the Northern Hemisphere. The Roxy Chicken Jam is taking place from December 12th to 13th, 2008 in Kaprun, Austria and as always, the world’s top female riders will be hitting the park and pushing women’s snowboarding to new heights. Meanwhile, round the other side of the globe in Japan, some of the TTR’s most progressive male riders will be gathering in Japan for the Nissan X-Trail Jam, an extreme battle of style and amplitude in the Colosseum that is the Tokyo Dome.

The women’s Roxy Chicken Jam has got a reputation as being one of the female riders’ favorite Swatch TTR event, delivering a park shaped with precision and guaranteed good times. A lot of the riders have been shredding the Southern hemisphere contests, they have been training hard since, putting in the hours, and are now super keen to get out there to step it up. This year, Europe’s big guns like Sina Candrian (SUI), Conny
Bleicher (GER), and Silvia Mittermüller (GER) will be flying the flag for Europe looking for those early season points, but it’s definitely not going to be a walk in the park for them, with previous TTR Champions Torah Bright (AUS), Cheryl Maas (NED) and Jamie Anderson (USA) in the mix, riders who always bring their A-game and stomp the big runs.

The men’s Nissan X-Trail Jam in Japan has a reputation as a totally crazy place, crazy fans, crazy jumps, and crazy riding, and if history is any indicator, we’re assured of seeing a showdown of epic proportions when the Swatch TTR superstars go head to head on December 12th – 14th, 2008. Current World No.1 Chas Guldemond will be out in force, especially after his banging Southern hemisphere season, and he’s amping for the event. “It’s pretty crazy, everybody’s got some pretty crazy tricks and when you get us on huge big jumps it’s going to be nuts”, he says. Also be watching out for Seb Toots (CAN) and Travis Rice (USA) as they attempt to stomp the trick everyone is talking about: the always spectacular Double Cork.

TTR will keep you updated from both events on a daily basis with news, interviews and blogs. Daily X-Trail Jam coverage begins Thursday, December 11th 2008 only on ttrworldtour.com. For a tease of what’s to come for the 2008 Nissan X-trail Jam, check the teaser.
